There are few things more American than a home-cooked version of baseball on the country’s 244th birthday.
With that in mind Jennifer Lopez and fiance Alex Rodriguez gathered up some close family and friends and hit their spacious yard in Long Island, New York for a friendly game during their Independence Day celebration.
And it turns out the hot celebrity couple squared off against each other on opposing teams.

You could more than argue that Rodriguez and his team had a huge advantage considering he’s a former baseball great with the New York Yankees.
But that didn’t deter JLo from giving it her all and hustling down the baselines when she made contact with the ball in a one minute-plus long video posted on ARod’s Instagram.
Dressed in Daisy Dukes, a white top and wide-brim hat, the triple-threat entertainer hit one ball deep to left field that appeared to be caught, and she knocked a hard ground ball but was thrown out at first.

In a show of flirty fun, Rodriguez reached out towards his ladylove with an open hand, and a big beaming smile on his face, after her last out in a joking manner.
In the proceeding clips, Rodriguez showed off his power with the bat by hitting a hard liner to left, and his teammate went even deeper with a long fly ball that scored a run that appeared to be Lopez’s daughter Emme.
Wanting to give the video a soothing feel, Billy Joel’s classic tune, Piano man, could be heard playing in the background during the highlights of the game.
Afterwards ARod took to the camera and gloated over his team’s win while doing an impersonation of legendary sports announcer Al Michaels.

After handing the MVP trophy, which was a small square box to Silva, ARod delivered his final send-off remarks in his baseball announcer voice.
‘Like they say in the woods, I’m Al Michaels and there’s always next year for July 4th. From our hearts to yours, we’ll say happy 4th everybody.’

He then wrote about how this year, amid the COVID-19 quarantine, has reinforced a few ideas in his mind.
‘Cherish your loved ones and the time you spend with them,’ he listed as the first of four lessons.
The others included: ‘Keep educating yourself and challenging yourself’; ‘Speak up and listen to each other’; and ‘Spread love. Spread kindness. Spread joy.’

Lopez also shared some deep sentiments in her July 4th Instagram post along with the song Let’s Get Loud, from her 1999 debut studio album On The 6, playing to some snaps of herself performing on stage and when she huddled with U.S. troops.
‘This Independence Day, I am simply asking everyone to celebrate by getting LOUD. #LetsGetLoud by using our voices, by changing the race and age voting gap, and driving everyone to the polls to vote this November,’ she wrote.
‘Many thanks to @MichelleObama for starting her organization #WhenWeAllVote, making it easier for people to register. And thank you for joining us by banding together to BE the change you want to see in the world.’
Lopez and Rodriguez announced their engagement in March 2019.
